The Lightning Southeastern Circuit consists of nine regattas endorsed by SELD and SAYRA: Cottonwood Regatta, April 26-27; VooDoo Regatta, May 17-18; Wilmington Regatta, May 31-June 1; SELD Championships, June 21-22; Oriental Sailing Social, July 12-13; Charleston SAYRA Open, July 19-20; Augusta Lightning Regatta, Sept 13-14; Indian Summer Regatta, Sept. 27-28; Atlanta Cup, Oct. 4-5; and Borderline, Oct 25-26. Skippers must be in good standing with the ILCA and SAYRA.
All measurement rules will be enforced according to ILCA rules.
All boats must have some type of floatation to help keep the boat afloat after capsize. Required safety equipment must be carried.
To compete for the championship, each competitor must sail at least five of the district regattas. Competitors sailing in more than five qualifying events will be given a drop race for every regatta sailed in above five. The series will be scored by averaging all races that count toward each regatta sailed. If a competitor does not race in a regatta that he or she registers for, that regatta will not count towards the scoring of the district traveling Championship. Ties will be broken in favor of the competitor with the most firsts, seconds, etc. Results will be published to all active competitors.
AWARDS
At least one championship trophy will be awarded by SAYRA at the annual winter
meeting.
