Racing Information.  The race will be run in compliance with the US Sailing Rules of Racing 2001-2004, the International Lightning Class Association, and local club rules.  There will be no measurement or weigh-in.

Directions.  The Catawba Yacht Club is located on Lake Wylie in Charlotte, NC.  From I-77, turn west at the Hwy 160 (Ft. Mill) Exit.  Continue west on 160 through the Tega Cay intersection.  Turn Left on Zoar Rd (BridgestoneTire Store). Turn left on Youngblood.   When Youngblood forks, bear left to the club.

From I-85 South (Atlanta/Greenville), exit south onto Hwy 161 (Kings Mtn exit - NOT THE KINGS MTN MILITARY PARK EXIT).  Travel @8 miles south on 161.  Turn left onto Hwy 55 (McGill’s General Store).   Follow 55 through Clover and out the other side.  Turn left on Hwy 557 at the AMOCO station.  If you pass Clover HS, you went too far.  557 goes @ 8 more miles and turns into Hwy 49.  Hwy 49 crosses Lake Wylie.  Watch for Youngblood Rd.  It’s @1 mile after the bridge.  Turn right on Youngblood.  When Youngblood forks, bear left to club.  If you are an interstate groupie, you can skip the 161 exit and stay on 85 all the way to 77 south and then use the paragraph one directions, but trust us, going through Clover is shorter and less hair-raising!  For folks coming on I-85 north of Charlotte, take I-85 to I-77 South.  Once you are on I-77 South, pick up the directions in paragraph one.

Camping/Lodging.  Camping is available at Catawba Yacht Club on a first come first serve basis.  We can easily accommodate 3-4 tents.    Campfires are prohibited, but there are plenty of charcoal grills and picnic tables.  If you plan to camp at CYC Friday night, let us know in advance!

Hotels are also in abundance.  The closest location to us is at Carowinds Blvd.  There are several motels located there.  There is a Holiday Inn Express (704-537-6611), Comfort Inn (704-339-0574), and a Motel 6 (704-545-0306).  These hotels are less than fifteen minutes from our club.  Their rates vary from @55.00 (Motel 6) to 100.00 a night.  The Carowinds theme park will be open that weekend, so rates may vary.  All are relatively new and you can expect good accommodations.   Be sure to call ahead.  The park is open, so if you have family debating on coming, they might enjoy a Saturday at the park, while sailors are at the race.  Carowinds information is 704-588-2600.
