NOTICE OF RACE

May 13 – 15, 2005

Lake Norman Yacht Club invites you to participate  in the 4th  5th Annual Voodoo Regatta / SELD Championships Lake Norman Yacht Club (LNYC), Mooresville, NC is the official organizing authority and host of Tthe rRegatta.

 

This regatta is being held in conjunction with the Annual Lake Norman Hospice Regatta to benefit Hospice at Charlotte and Hospice of Lincoln County.Hospice Lake Norman.   The Voodoo Regatta will be sailed on separate race courses

 

Photos taken during the Regatta by Josh Jones www.blubeacon.com, will be available for purchase after the event.  Proceeds benefit Hospice Lake Norman.

RULES

This regatta shall be governed by rules defined by the 2005 Racing Rules of Sailing.

ELIGIBILITY

Lightnings must hold valid Measurement Certificates, including Mast Certifications, and must display valid membership decal and mast decal.

Each boat shall carry a fluke-type anchor weighing at least 4 pounds (1.8 kg) with 50' of line attached for anchoring a Lightning, a compass, a minimum one gallon bucket, a paddle, an approved wearable life preserver for each person on board, a throw able life preserver (cushion), and a whistle.  Each boat must be equipped with a centerboard preventer.

All sails shall bear an Official Royalty Label as provided for in the I.L.C.A. Specifications, and Mainsail and Spinnaker numbers shall be the same. Sail measurement is not required.

The Skipper (Helmsman) must be a Life, Active or Associate Member who meets the requirements as defined in the I.L.C.A. Constitution. 

ENTRY

The entry deadline is 2300, May 28, 2004. A completed, signed entry form and the entry fee must be received by Lake Norman Yacht Club (attn. Andrew Howell) by    May 28, 2004 in order to avoid an additional $10 late penalty. Late registration will be open at The Party at The Point from 1800-2000, Friday, 06/04 and at Lake Norman Yacht Club 0800-0845, Saturday, 06/04.  Adult race registration $40 per boat / Junior race registration (all team members under 21) $15 per boat.

No race will start after 1300 on Sunday.

 

The Low Point System of Appendix A of the racing rules will apply. Except if at least 6 races are completed, each boat's worst score will be excluded from her series score. One race constitutes a series.

LAUNCHING & FACILITIES

LNYC policy strictly prohibits pets on the club grounds.

LNYC has two launch ramps

Camping is welcome with plenty of lakefront sites available. Shower and restroom facilities are available in two separate buildings on the property.

SUPPORTING HOSPICE

A portion Meal Passes, T-shirt & Hat sales, Raffle and your contributions to Hospice Lake Norman will directly support the organization’s mission:  to provide quality, compassionate palliative,e health care and support services to individuals and families facing life threatening illnesses, enabling them to experience the end of life with grace and dignity. Hospice Lake Norman is a program of Hospice & Palliative Care Charlotte Region, which collectively serves nine counties, including the Lake Norman community.
