What a great regatta!
We had great breeze except for one race where it died and filled in
from the rear. Great competition, different
from a big regatta. A small fleet is a lot of fun for crew work and quick maneuvers!
We ran five races on Saturday. Race one was very close for all boats.
Harkrider lead at the first mark and took the first bullet!
Race two had several lead changes with Marriott taking the lead on the last
downwind leg. He held Harkrider off for a first place finish. Race three saw the return of Lenny Krawcheck with
a bullet. In race four Pierce Barden win the
closest race of the regatta with the difference between second and fifth less than 20
seconds. Barden also won race five and became
the only boat to win more than one race on Saturday!
Saturday night began with wonderful hors d'oeuvre with cold drinks
before a great pork dinner to be shared with good friends.
Sunday started with a light breeze that filled in for race one where the lead changed
several times even at the finish where Krawcheck edged Marriott by a foot for the win. The last race of the regatta had Harkrider take a
large lead only to watch the wind die and the fleet start to catch up from behind. Harkrider held off the fleet and won his second
race of the regatta.
Overall, this was a great regatta, great race committee work, with
great short tight courses, The average time to the first mark was five minutes. Great
job Pam!
