Many of us arrived Friday night.  Bob already had the mobile home parked and the world's largrest flagpole extended!  By dark, the rains came and were relentless into the next day.  As more crews arrived Saturday AM, it was obvious some sort of delay would be necessary and at Noon, the race committee announced a delay.  Most of us saw little hope in the weather forecast and bailed out.  That was our mistake.   Around 2:00 PM, conditions improved enough to start racing and by Sunday afternoon, the three scheduled races were run.  Bob Harkrider won all three races and the regatta for the Lightning class.

Perhaps the real story of the regatta was told by Bob Harkrider.  Several hours out of Augusta, he turned on the RV cam to check out his boat.  Boo Noo was gone!   Thinking their Lightning was sitting somewhere smashed to bits, or worse yet, the instigator of an accident, Bob and Sharon doubled back to find Boo sitting upright in a ditch waiting for it's owners to come back!  There is a guardian angel for Lightnings.

Many thanks to Beck Small and his committee for a great regatta under tough conditions.
