Washington, DC

Monday, June 23

This was sightseeing day.  We slept late - the first time I can remember doing that and it felt really good!  By 11 AM, we were full of hot dogs and off for DC.

Our first stop was Arlington Cemetery.  We visited the grave of Captain Edgar L. Wright.

Visit Next Week for a Gallery of Pictures.  All I have is
a phone modem right now and it is too slow.

From there we checked out the Washington Sailing Marina where we would sail on Wednesday.   What a sight to behold.  A marina for NOTHING but sailboats.  And sailboats there were for as far as the eye could see.  We got real excited about sailing and made a note to come early on Wednesday.

After a short stop for supplies at West Marine, we rode to the mall.  It was closing on 4:00 and we wanted to get parked and visit long enough to wait out rush hour.  It took an hour to negotiate the traffic but we finally found a parking spot and set out on foot.  We visited the Jefferson, Washington, Viet Nam, Lincoln, and  Korea Memorials.

At 7, we were beat, and headed back to Judy's.  We stopped for steaks at a neighborhood Bennigan's and arrived at our base at 10 PM.

We had a great day.  Tomorrow, it's off to Annapolis and our first sail.
